Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor

Corrosion, commonly known as rust, is the degradation of metals caused by environmental exposure, particularly moisture. Ferrous metals, due to their high carbon content, are especially susceptible to corrosion under such conditions.

Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) films and papers provide effective protection by releasing corrosion-inhibiting compounds that volatilize, travel through enclosed spaces, and condense on metal surfaces. This invisible protective layer inhibits corrosion through adsorption and hydrophobic effects, significantly reducing metal degradation during storage and transit.

Mechanism :

Vapour Corrosion Inhibitor Additive Masterbatch slowly releases corrosion-preventive compounds from plastic films into enclosed air spaces, forming a protective layer on exposed metal surfaces. It interrupts the electrochemical corrosion process caused by moisture, oxygen, and atmospheric contaminants, thereby providing effective and long-lasting corrosion protection.

Special Features :
  • Prevents surface corrosion of packed components (Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals)
  • Protects against adverse weather conditions when added to plastic films and sheets
  • Enhances durability and service life of packed parts
  • Provides an economical corrosion-protective packaging solution

Applications :
  • Packaging film, sheet and cast films
  • Any application that requires Corrosion Inhibitions
